Michael  lives, works, and paints in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. With loose gestural marks and layered applications of paint, Michael seeks to not only capture his surroundings as a scene but also as time. Each painting undergoes many "versions" of itself.

Each painting begins with exploration. Country roads, creek beds, and scenic vistas are captured in sketchbooks, where they later help inform the paintings worked up in the studio.
